The Path to Experiencing God’s Favor
As believers, we live under the umbrella of God’s unwavering grace and love. However, our actions and heart condition play a significant role in determining whether we receive the fullness of His blessings. In Isaiah 66:1-2, God reveals the keys to experiencing His favor.
A Humble Heart: The Foundation of God’s Blessings
God desires a contrite heart and a humble spirit in His children (Psalm 51:17). This requires surrendering every aspect of our lives to Jesus. Yet, we often struggle to release certain dreams, desires, and relationships into His hands. When we fail to surrender, we demonstrate pride, which is the opposite of what God wants in us. As James 4:6 reminds us, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Our lack of submission implies that we think our way is better than God’s plan.
Reverencing God’s Word
The second key to experiencing God’s favor is to tremble at His Word (Isaiah 66:2). Scripture is the living and powerful revelation of Jesus Himself, designed to teach and transform us. We must ask ourselves: Do we dedicate time each day to understanding God’s Word and applying its principles? Do we hunger for more of the Word in our lives so we can know its Author better? Our obedience is a measure of our reverence for God’s Word. To honor the Lord, we must obey Him.
Positioning Ourselves for God’s Blessings
We all desire God’s favor, but are we living in a way that positions us to receive His full blessings? Take a moment to reflect on whether you have submitted all areas of your life – from finances and health to relationships and work habits – to Jesus Christ. Recognize His authority in all things, and revere His Word. By doing so, you will be on the path to experiencing the fullness of God’s blessings.
