Nourished by the Word
At an altitude of 6,000 feet, the sun’s intense rays can quickly drain the life from my flower box plants. Without regular watering, they wilt and wither, losing their vibrancy and purpose. This stark reality echoes a timeless truth: our spiritual vitality hinges on our connection to the ultimate Source of life – God’s Word.
The Power of Meditation
As Psalm 1 reminds us, those who delight in God’s law and meditate on it day and night are like trees planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season and remaining evergreen. Similarly, Jeremiah 17:7-8 promises that those who trust in the Lord will thrive, even in the face of adversity, bearing fruit during times of drought.
A Choice to Flourish
We face a daily decision: will we prioritize meditation on God’s Word, or neglect it, risking spiritual withering? The consequences are clear. When we ignore God’s guidance, we become like unappealing, barren plants, offering little value to those around us. Conversely, by drinking from the waters of God’s Word, we become fruit-bearers, nourishing others even in difficult times.
A Master Gardener’s Counsel
Our heavenly Master Gardener offers sage advice: meditate on His Word and trust in Him. As I reflect on my own spiritual journey, I realize that I, too, can easily forget to drink from the wellspring of life. Lord, may I never become a wilted, useless plant, but instead, a vibrant, fruit-bearing branch, sharing Your life with others.
