Following the Father’s Lead: A Journey of Obedience and Faith

Following the Father’s Lead

As we navigate the complexities of life, it’s essential to remember that our actions should be guided by a higher power. Jesus reminds us in John 5:19-20 that he can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees his Father doing. This profound truth underscores the importance of aligning our will with the Father’s.

A Call to Obedience

I’d like to share a remarkable story of obedience and faith, as exemplified by Merle, a dear friend from South Africa. Thirteen years ago, God spoke to her in a dream, saying, “Pick up your cross, follow me, and feed my people. I will lead you and show you the way; do not be afraid.” This call to action has become the driving force behind her daily existence, as she strives to serve the risen Lord with unwavering dedication.

Serving the Forgotten

Merle’s work is focused on caring for those afflicted by HIV/AIDS, many of whom are orphans or dying from this devastating virus. She ventures into the treacherous squatter camps, where poverty and despair reign, to provide comfort and love to those in dire need. Despite the dangers that surround her, Merle remains fearless, protected by the Holy Spirit. Her selflessness is a testament to the power of obedience and trust in the Father’s guidance.

Inspiration and Reflection

Merle’s unwavering commitment to her calling has been a source of inspiration to me, encouraging me to stay focused on the Father’s will for my life. Her story serves as a poignant reminder to keep our eyes and ears attuned to the Father’s voice, rather than being swayed by the opinions of others. As we reflect on our own lives, we must ask ourselves: Are we listening to the Father’s whispers? Are we willing to obey and follow His lead, no matter the cost?

The Blessing of Obedience

When we surrender to the Father’s will, we can expect to be blessed beyond measure. As we step out in faith, He faithfully provides all our needs to accomplish the work He has ordained for us. May we, like Merle, be empowered to love until it hurts, and may our lives be a testament to the transformative power of obedience.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for calling us to serve you. We ask that you guide us, supply our needs, and give us the courage to obey your will. Amen.
