Encountering God: A Call to Action
Have you ever had a profound experience with God, where His presence felt tangible and His whispers seemed audible? It’s a desire to remain in that intimate space, free from life’s challenges and uncertainties. But what happens when God intervenes, disrupting our comfort zones and familiar ways of understanding?
A First-Century Encounter
Saul, a zealous defender of his faith, had such an encounter. Convinced of his righteousness, he was determined to purge the faith of dissenting voices. But God had other plans. A blinding light from heaven and a commanding voice changed Saul’s trajectory. The message was clear: “Get up and go.” Though initially blinded and helpless, Saul would later reflect on this pivotal moment, emphasizing his response and God’s subsequent command.
The Mountain Top Invitation
Jesus once invited three close friends to join Him on a mountain top. The experience was unprecedented, leaving them in awe and fear. They wanted to stay in that sacred space, basking in God’s presence. However, Jesus didn’t issue a direct command to “get up and go.” Instead, they simply descended back into their ordinary ministry, carrying with them the memories and lessons of their mountaintop experience.
From Intimacy to Action
Mountain top experiences nourish our souls, reinforce our commitment, and provide precious moments with God. Yet, we must eventually return to reality. What God has given us becomes sustenance for our journey, quenching our thirst and revitalizing those around us. It’s a call to action, urging us to “get up and go.”
A Prayer for Understanding
Dear Father God, I crave these moments of intimacy with You. Help me recognize them as special gifts, allowing me to see You more clearly, understand Your will more deeply, and fulfill Your call with greater passion. As I bask in Your presence, empower me to “get up and go,” sharing Your love and light with a world in need.
