Humbling Ourselves Before God: Unlocking True Power

The Power of Humility in the Presence of God

As we navigate the complexities of life, it’s easy to get caught up in our own strength and accomplishments. We often forget that true power comes not from within ourselves, but from the One who created us.

A Lesson from Joshua

Take Joshua, for example. This five-star general was revered by his 40,000 soldiers and looked up to by two million people. Yet, when he stood before God, he fell on his face and worshiped. This powerful leader recognized that his strength was nothing compared to the all-encompassing power of God.

The Danger of a Worship-less Heart

When we fail to acknowledge God’s power, we’re left to face our challenges alone. Without worship, we’re limited to our own strength and resources. We become like Joshua facing Jericho without first seeking guidance from his Commander. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Finding Comfort in Jesus

In Hebrews 13:5, God promises, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” When we turn our gaze away from our problems and towards Jesus, we find comfort and strength. Our Jerichos may seem insurmountable, but Jesus is stronger. He is our rock, our refuge, and our salvation.

Remembering Our Place

As we prepare to face our own Jerichos, let us remember the humility of Joshua. Let us fall on our faces and worship, acknowledging that our power comes not from ourselves, but from the One who created us. Only then can we truly experience the transformative power of God in our lives.
