Unlocking Confidence: The Power of Positive Self-Talk
As a parent, there’s nothing more astonishing than witnessing your child overcome their fears and doubts. For me, that moment came when my shy daughter Cathy took the stage in her grade one closing ceremony and sang a solo. It was a transformation that left me in awe.
From Shy to Confident
Cathy’s journey began with small steps. Her teacher’s reassuring words, “Cathy will be just fine,” were repeated throughout the year, gradually building her confidence. With each little challenge, Cathy’s faith in herself grew, until she was able to perform in front of an audience. The turning point was when she started believing the positive message about herself.
The World’s Negative Chatter
We’re constantly bombarded with negative messages that can erode our self-worth. “You’re a failure,” “Nobody could ever love you…” These voices can be deafening. But it’s time to change the channel and tune into a different frequency.
God’s Word: A Source of Strength
The Bible offers a refreshing alternative. God’s message is one of love, acceptance, and empowerment. “God so loved you that he gave his one and only Son, that if you believe in him you will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This is the truth about you: you are valued, loved, and capable of achieving greatness.
Empowered by Faith
When faced with a daunting task, remember God’s recorded message: “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Nothing is impossible with God. With His help, you can overcome any obstacle. Repeat these affirmations out loud: “Thank you, Lord, that you valued me enough to die for me. You love me just as I am, for you created me. Today I will take freely of your resources. I will go forth in your strength and energy, and I will succeed in your name.”
A New You
Believing the right message about yourself can make all the difference. So, choose to listen to the positive voice, and watch your confidence soar. You are capable of achieving greatness, and God is with you every step of the way.
