Answering God’s Call: Overcoming Inadequacy with Faith

When God Calls, Will You Answer?

Have you ever felt a pang of concern or distress when confronted with a problem or injustice? For Nehemiah, it was the dire situation of the Jews who had returned to Jerusalem after exile. The news weighed heavily on his heart, and he couldn’t shake off the feeling of responsibility. This emotional response was not coincidental; it was a divine nudge, prompting him to take action.

The Burden of Inadequacy

As Nehemiah reflected on the situation, he must have felt overwhelmed by the enormity of the task. How could he, a servant of the king, possibly make a difference? But God doesn’t call us based on our abilities or circumstances. When He burdens our hearts, He always provides a way to fulfill His purposes.

From Inadequacy to Obedience

Nehemiah’s story teaches us that God often uses our weaknesses to display His strength. When we feel inadequate, we tend to focus on our limitations rather than God’s limitless power. We must shift our gaze from our own abilities to His sovereignty. Rather than listing excuses, we should respond with faith and obedience, trusting that God will equip us for the task.

The Power Within

As believers, we have the Holy Spirit residing within us, empowering us to fulfill God’s mission. Instead of letting feelings of inadequacy paralyze us, we should let them drive us to our knees in prayer. There, we can receive renewed insight, power, and courage to tackle the challenges ahead.

Will You Respond to God’s Call?

When God places a burden on your heart, remember that He has already chosen you for the task. Refusing to obey would be a grave mistake. So, take a deep breath, surrender your fears and doubts, and step out in faith. God will provide the necessary resources and guidance to see you through. Will you answer His call?
