Finding Solace in the Power of Jesus’ Name: A Refuge in Times of Turmoil

Finding Refuge in the Powerful Name of Jesus

In times of turmoil, where do we turn for solace? For many, the answer lies in the comforting words of Proverbs 18:10: “The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.” This verse has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals, providing a sense of security and peace in the midst of life’s challenges.

A Personal Testimony of Faith

I recall a particularly trying time in my life when my husband underwent a grueling 10-hour surgery. As he lay recovering, the heat wave outside seemed insignificant compared to the torment raging in his mind. Despite the comfort of a fan and soothing Christian music, his thoughts were consumed by dark visions and haunting sounds. It wasn’t until he whispered the name “Jesus” that the chaos subsided, and he found peace.

The Name Above All Names

This experience serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of Jesus’ name. In a world filled with uncertainty and trouble, His name offers an unwavering refuge, an invisible armor, and a potent weapon against the forces of darkness. As we navigate life’s trials, we can find comfort in the knowledge that Jesus’ name is above every other name, and one day, every knee will bow in acknowledgment of His lordship.

A Lifelong Source of Comfort

For me, Proverbs 18:10 has been a constant source of comfort throughout the years. As a child, my father would lead our family in reading the Bible, and this verse has stayed with me through various challenges, including living in foreign countries and facing multiple surgeries. It has become my “go-to” place, my mustering point for a quiet heart.

The Power of Jesus’ Name

While Jesus never promised us a trouble-free life (John 16:33), His name offers an ever-present refuge, a powerful reminder that we are not alone in our struggles. As we call out His name in awe and thankfulness, we tap into the profound power that enables us to deal with all that life throws our way.

A Prayer of Gratitude

Jesus, you have the name that is above every other name. We know that one day every knee will bow and acknowledge that you are Lord, to the glory of God the Father. So now we call out your name again and again in awe and in thankfulness for the power through your name to deal with all that you allow in our lives. Amen.
