The Transformative Power of Unconditional Love
Are you struggling to show patience and kindness to those around you, whether it’s ungrateful relatives, cranky neighbors, or even your own children? You’re not alone. It’s a daily challenge many of us face. But what if we could learn to love like God loves?
A Higher Standard of Love
Luke 6:35 sets the bar high: “Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back.” This kind of love goes beyond a simple social gesture. It requires a depth of compassion and empathy that can be difficult to muster on our own. Yet, it’s exactly this kind of love that can transform our relationships and bring healing to those around us.
The Limits of Human Love
The truth is, our hearts are deceitful and prone to selfishness, as Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us. We need an outside source to help us love like God loves. We need a transfusion of His love to flow through us and into the lives of others.
Receiving God’s Love
So, how can we start loving like God? The answer is simple: we need to receive His love first. When we allow God’s love to fill our hearts, we’ll be empowered to show kindness, patience, and compassion to those around us. We’ll be able to love without expecting anything in return, just as God loves us.
A Love Worth Giving
As Max Lucado so eloquently puts it, “Would we love as God loves? Then we start by receiving God’s love!” By doing so, we’ll be able to give love that’s genuine, selfless, and transformative. We’ll be able to bring hope and healing to those around us, and experience the joy that comes from loving like God.
