The God Who Understands
Have you ever felt like God is distant, unaware of your struggles and pain? You’re not alone. Many of us have wondered if God truly gets what we’re going through. But the Bible tells a different story.
A God Who Has Been There
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that Jesus “has shared fully in all our experience of temptation, except that he never sinned” (Hebrews 4:15). This is no partial understanding; Jesus has fully experienced every hurt, every stress, and every strain we face. He sympathizes with our weaknesses because he has been there himself.
Your God Gets You
Every page of the Gospels echoes this fundamental truth: your God understands you. When you’re at your breaking point, God knows exactly what you mean. When your plans are derailed by others, God nods in empathy. He has walked in your shoes and knows how you feel.
Empathy from the Highest Authority
Jesus’ experiences on earth give him a unique perspective on human struggle. He knows the weight of temptation, the sting of rejection, and the pain of loss. And yet, he never sinned. This means that his empathy is not only genuine but also authoritative. When you talk to God about your problems, you’re speaking to someone who truly gets it.
A Comforting Reality
The next time you’re tempted to think that God doesn’t understand, remember that Jesus has been there too. He knows how you feel, and he cares. This comforting reality can bring hope and peace to even the darkest of times. So go ahead, talk to God about your problems. He’s listening, and he gets you.
