Embracing the Power of Unconditional Love
At the heart of every meaningful relationship lies a profound truth: we cannot truly love others until we have experienced the depth of God’s love for us. As the apostle Paul prayed, “May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love” (Ephesians 3:17 NLT). This prayer is a reminder that our capacity to love is directly tied to our understanding of God’s love for us.
The Forgotten First Step
Many of us have been taught to love, but few of us have been shown how to tap into the power that makes loving possible. God’s command to love one another is clear (1 John 3:23), but the question remains: how can we love those who are unkind to us, or love as God loves? The answer lies in embracing the principle of receiving love before giving it.
God’s Unfailing Love
God loves each of us personally, powerfully, and passionately. His love is unwavering and unconditional, unlike the promises of others that often fall short. God’s love is a promise that has been kept, and it is this love that empowers us to love others in return.
Receiving Love, Giving Love
When we prioritize receiving God’s love, we are filled with a love that overflows into our relationships with others. We are able to love without expectation of return, just as God loves us without condition. By embracing this principle, we can love as God loves – freely, fully, and without reserve.
Experiencing the Depth of God’s Love
As we root ourselves in God’s marvelous love, we will find that our capacity to love others grows exponentially. We will be able to love those who are unkind to us, and love as God loves – with a love that is unfailing, unconditional, and unstoppable.
