A Humbling Encounter with Divine Power
As I wandered through the majestic landscape of Yellowstone National Park, I was struck by the towering trees that seemed to touch the sky. Coming from North-Central Texas, where the trees are relatively short, I felt small and insignificant amidst these natural giants. The experience was a poignant reminder of the grandeur of God’s creation.
The Majesty of Creation
Every step I took revealed a new wonder. The rustling of leaves, the chirping of birds, and the gentle sway of branches all testified to the intricate beauty of God’s handiwork. And then, I stumbled upon a humble pinecone, a tiny seed that had given rise to the towering tree beside me. In that moment, I was overcome with awe and reverence for the Creator.
A Lesson in Humility
As I stood before these natural wonders, I was forced to confront my own limitations. My confidence in my abilities, my carefully laid plans, and my self-assurance all seemed trivial in the face of God’s power. The Scripture echoed in my mind: “All the trees of the field will know that I the Lord bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish. I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.” (Ezekiel 17:24)
The God of Impossible Possibilities
This same God, who can summon life from a tiny seed and bring forth abundance from barrenness, is the one who guides my path and clears the way for me. With a single word, He can shatter barriers, transform circumstances, and restore relationships. He is the God of impossible possibilities, always faithful and true.
A Prayer of Surrender
As I stood amidst the towering trees, I prayed: “Lord, show me how big you are. Help me see you for who you really are.” In that moment, I surrendered my plans, my fears, and my doubts to His sovereign will. And I knew that He would do what He had promised: “I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.”
