Rediscovering Life Through Christ
A Life Transformed
Galatians 2:20 reveals a profound truth: “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” This verse marks a pivotal moment in our spiritual journey, where we surrender our old selves to Christ and embark on a path of transformation.
The Old Self: A Life Without Jesus
Before coming to know Jesus, our lives were centered around our own desires, choices, and pleasures. We lived for ourselves, pursuing our own will and interests. But this way of living was destined for destruction, for it was rooted in selfishness and sin.
Crucified with Christ: A New Beginning
However, through faith in Christ, our old selves were crucified with Him. This is not a future event, but a past reality. When Christ died on the cross, our old way of living died with Him. This means that our old, selfish selves are now a thing of the past.
A New Life in Christ
It is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us. This is not about trying to live up to an ideal or standard, but about embracing a new reality where Christ is alive and active in our lives. As we surrender to Him, we participate in His life as His servants, branches, and reflections of His radiance.
Trusting in the Son of God
So, how do we live in this earthly body? By trusting in the Son of God, who loved us and gave Himself for us. This trust is not based on our resources, abilities, or accomplishments, but on the unfailing love and provision of Christ. As we place our confidence in Him, we experience a life that is fully alive, free, fresh, and new.
Walking in Newness of Life
What is left for us to do? Simply to cease from struggling and striving, and to walk in the newness of life that Christ has given us. We are no longer bound by our old selves, but are free to live as new creations in Christ.
Clean House: A Life Overflowing with Life
Jesus is our big vacuum cleaner, who has taken away all our impurities and cleaned house. He has given us a new heart, a new spirit, and a new purpose. As we surrender to Him, we can experience a life that is overflowing with life, joy, and purpose.
