The Heart of Salvation
A Savior for the Sinful
Jesus’ association with sinners is a profound mystery that has puzzled many throughout history. Yet, in Matthew 9:12, He reveals the essence of His mission: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” This statement underscores the fundamental truth that we, as sinners, are in dire need of a Savior.
The Crucial Element of Salvation
So, what is the most critical aspect of this truth? Is it Jesus’ desire to save us, or our acknowledgment of our own sinfulness? The answer lies in Jesus’ sacrificial love. Without His desire to save us, recognizing our sinfulness would only lead to hopelessness. However, without acknowledging our need for His grace, His sacrifice would be in vain.
Praising Our Loving Savior
Let us praise Jesus, our loving and sacrificial Savior, who has bridged the gap between us and God. At the same time, let us humbly acknowledge our need for His merciful and mighty grace. For it is only through His grace that we can stand before God as His pure children.
A Prayer of Confession and Praise
Dear Heavenly Father, I offer you my sincerest praise for providing Jesus as my Savior. I confess that I struggle with sin, and despite my best efforts, I cannot rid myself of its grasp. Without Your grace and Jesus’ sacrifice, I know I would be lost forever. Please forgive me for my shortcomings, and receive my praise for Your gracious forgiveness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
