The Unseen Battle: Spiritual Warfare in the Modern World
We often underestimate the enemy we face in spiritual warfare. The Bible tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). This is a formidable foe, far more powerful than we can handle on our own.
The Reality of Evil
Many people today doubt the existence of a literal devil, but the Bible paints a different picture. The evil we see in the world – genocide, human trafficking, exploitation – cannot be explained by human depravity alone. There is a supernatural force at work, driving humanity to commit atrocities. The Bible calls this force Satan, a being who opposes God and seeks to destroy His creation.
The Armor of God
In Ephesians 6, Paul describes the armor of God that we must wear to stand against the schemes of the devil. This armor is not physical but spiritual, and it includes truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God. We are not just passive recipients of God’s protection; we must actively put on this armor and engage in the battle.
The Power of God
The power of God that raised Christ from the dead is the same power that equips us for spiritual warfare. This power is not just a theoretical concept; it is a living reality that transforms us and enables us to stand against the forces of darkness. As Paul writes, “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10).
The Choice Before Us
We are not spectators in this battle; we are soldiers. The choice before us is not whether to engage in spiritual warfare but whether to be prepared or unprepared soldiers. Will we put on the armor of God and stand against the schemes of the devil, or will we succumb to his lies and temptations? The outcome depends on our willingness to engage in the battle and trust in the power of God.
Prayer: The Key to Victory
To fight the good fight, we need to be in constant contact with God through prayer. Prayer is not just a means of communication; it is a source of strength and empowerment. As we pray, we connect with the power of God and receive the wisdom and guidance we need to navigate the challenges of spiritual warfare.
