Unleashing Your Unique Purpose
Designed for a Special Work
Did you know that God has a special plan for your life? According to Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work.” You were set apart for a unique purpose, tailored to your skills and abilities.
The God-Shaped You
How do you explain your quirks of skill? Your ability to diagnose an engine problem by the noise it makes, or to bake a cake without a recipe? It’s God who shaped you according to your unique design. He knew what your generation would need and gave you the skills to make a difference.
Living in Your Sweet Spot
I met Dave, a fellow American, who was celebrating his 61st birthday in Central America. His life story was one of transformation, from a life of drugs, sex, and divorce to one of purpose and meaning. He discovered his passion for fixing things and helping others, and now he installs sinks and toilets in homes without fathers and plumbing. He’s living in his sweet spot, doing what he was made to do.
Discovering Your Unique Purpose
What about you? What have you always done well and loved to do? It’s time to re-examine your life and find the merger of your skills and passions. As Philippians 2:13 says, “God is working in you to help you want to do and be able to do what pleases him.” Your Designer couples the ‘want to’ with the ‘be able to’. Desire shares the driver’s seat with ability.
Delighting in the Lord
As Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Your Father is too gracious to assign you to a life of misery. He wants you to live a life of purpose and joy, doing what you love and loving what you do.
Unleashing Your Uniqueness
So, what have you always done well and loved to do? Take a step back, read your life backward, and check your supplies. Re-relish your moments of success and satisfaction. For in the merger of the two, you’ll find your uniqueness. You’ll discover the special work God has set you apart for, and you’ll be living in your sweet spot, doing what you were made to do.
