The King’s Return: A Reality Check
As we navigate the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. A recent encounter with my three-year-old granddaughter served as a poignant reminder of this. While driving through the city, I sang to her, and she sang back. One of the songs I chose was “Soon and Very Soon, we are Going to Meet the King.” Her response? “No, Grandma, we are going to the mall.” We all had a good laugh, but later, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that her innocent words held a deeper truth.
Distracted from Eternity
Don’t we, as adults, often prioritize the mundane over the eternal? We get caught up in our daily routines, running from one task to another, and forget that our time on earth is fleeting compared to the vast expanse of eternity. The Bible reminds us, “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you will come back in the same way you have seen Him go” (Acts 1:11). Are we eagerly awaiting His return, or are we too busy to give it a thought?
A Call to Readiness
When was the last time you reflected on Jesus’ second coming? Have you grown complacent, assuming it’s a distant event? The truth is, we don’t know when He will return – it could be today, tomorrow, or at any moment. Are you prepared to meet Him? If not, I encourage you to take a step back, reassess your priorities, and focus on what truly matters.
A Prayer for Gladness and Readiness
Father, I am grateful that Jesus is returning to earth. May it be today, tomorrow, or soon. Grant us joy and readiness in our hearts, knowing that our Lord is coming soon. Amen.
