Embracing the Simplicity of Faith
As I reflect on my journey with God, I’m reminded of the importance of staying focused on what truly matters. Like Martha, I often find myself getting caught up in the busyness of life, seeking more help and guidance from the Lord. But in those moments, I’m gently reminded that there’s only one thing necessary.
The Wisdom of a Child
One Sunday morning, as I was praying, I noticed a little girl standing nearby, surrounded by her parents. She couldn’t have been more than four years old. And in that instant, I was struck by the simplicity of her needs. At her age, she didn’t crave material possessions or worldly success; all she desired was to be loved, accepted, and protected by those around her. Her world was uncomplicated, untainted by the worries and concerns that plague us as adults.
A Glimpse of God’s Love
As I gazed at this child, I envisioned the joy on her face as she was held close by her parent. And in that moment, I felt an invitation from God to experience that same sense of security and love. I let go of my doubts and fears, and allowed myself to be enveloped in the warmth of His embrace. It was as if I had climbed up into His arms, feeling the weight of my worries lifting off my shoulders.
A Lesson in Gratitude
Weeks later, the memory of that moment remains vivid in my mind, a reminder of the love and warmth that God offers to each of us. As Jesus said, “Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20-21). May we never lose sight of the incredible gift of salvation, and may we always remember to thank God for His grace and mercy.
A Prayer of Gratitude
Dear Lord, I thank You for Your willingness to accept us, clean us, and re-clothe us. In Your mercy, keep us safe in Your care. Be with all those who need a hug from You today, and grant us Your peace, in the name of Jesus, amen.
