Breaking Free from Darkness
As believers, we often forget that we were once trapped in the kingdom of darkness, ruled by Satan’s deceit and despair. But God, in His infinite mercy, has rescued us and brought us into the kingdom of His dear Son, where love and light reign supreme (Colossians 1:13).
A General’s Struggle
I recall a powerful encounter with a high-ranking military officer who was eager to surrender his life to Christ. Yet, despite his desire, he struggled to take the leap of faith. As we explored the reasons behind his hesitation, he revealed a deep-seated uncertainty. I guided him to Colossians 1:13-14, and as he read the passage aloud, the truth began to dawn on him. He realized that he was still bound to Satan’s kingdom, and the enemy was fighting to keep him in darkness.
The Power of Revelation
In that moment, the general understood that he had a choice to make. He could continue to serve Satan, or he could surrender to God’s loving kingdom. With this newfound awareness, he was ready to pray and invite Christ into his life. As he did, he transitioned from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light, where he experienced the joy and freedom that comes with knowing God.
Our Shared Past
The truth is, every person born into this world is initially a part of Satan’s kingdom. It’s a harsh reality, but one that we must acknowledge. Even as Christians, we were once trapped in darkness, until God’s Holy Spirit intervened and brought us into the light.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
It’s essential to recognize that our salvation is not solely dependent on our efforts or knowledge. Rather, it’s the Holy Spirit who enables us to comprehend spiritual truth, liberates us from darkness, and brings us into the kingdom of God. As we share the Gospel with others, we must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives.
Today’s Action Point
As you go about your day, remember that your primary concern should be allowing the power of God’s Holy Spirit to operate in your life. As you do, others will be drawn to the supernatural qualities they see in you, and they’ll be inspired to follow Christ alongside you.
