Finding Eternal Value in a World of Uncertainty
As the economy continues to fluctuate, leaving many of us feeling uncertain about our future, my son Charley reminds me to focus on God’s eternal economy. In these turbulent times, it’s easy to get caught up in worry and fear, but God’s Word offers a different perspective.
The Gift of Forgiveness
The more I understand the gravity of my sin, the more I appreciate the immeasurable value of God’s gift of forgiveness. I am reminded that my sin is a personal insult to a holy God, and yet, He chooses to forgive me. This forgiveness is not something I can earn; it’s a gift that I can only receive through faith.
A Life of Purpose
As I seek to follow Christ, I find myself becoming less satisfied with my own selfish desires and more focused on living a life of purpose. The more I delight in God’s Word, the less time I have for fleeting pleasures that offer no substance. Instead, I am drawn to pray for those around me, to seek God’s counsel, and to live a life that honors Him.
The Power of Love
When I consider the love that Jesus demonstrated on the cross, I am ashamed of my own lack of love and sacrifice for Him. In a world that often prioritizes self-seeking and self-gratification, I am reminded of the importance of loving others and living a life of service to God.
Eternal Focus
As I set my mind on things that count for eternity – people, the work of the Lord, praising Him, and my own spiritual life – I find contentment and peace. I am no longer consumed by the cares of this world, but instead, I am free to focus on what truly matters.
The Unconditional Love of God
Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is a powerful reminder of God’s unconditional love for me. He gave Himself to supply the payment for my sin, to satisfy the judgment that my sin deserved. His love is unexplainable, save for the character of God Himself. It’s a love that I could never equal, comprehend, deserve, or live to be worthy of.
A Prayer of Gratitude
Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me before I could choose You. Thank You for giving so much to me before I could do anything for You. Thank You for accepting me as Your child, a joint-heir with Christ. God, keep reminding me of who I am and whose I am. Cause my life to reflect You always. Keep me focused on Your time, Your ways, Your wisdom, Yourself, so that I don’t follow the foolish devices of man or my own selfishness. Thank You, Father.
