Restoration of the Soul
God’s greatest desire is to restore every soul, bringing beauty, wholeness, and redemption to our minds, wills, and emotions.
Understanding Our Personhood
When I first moved to Canada, a pastor’s words struck a chord: “You are a spirit, you live in a body, and you have a soul.” This profound statement helped me grasp the complexity of my personhood, recognizing that my soul encompasses my mind, will, and emotions. While my spirit was redeemed when I accepted Christ as Savior, the journey to transform my mind, will, and emotions had just begun.
The Landscape of My Soul
Like many, my soul’s landscape was marred by lies, hurt, and disappointments. But Christ yearned to bring restoration to those broken places, replacing the rocks and rubble with beauty and wholeness. Through a process of introspection and healing, I worked to remove the obstacles, weed out the negative influences, and till the soil of my soul.
God’s Desire for Us
About a year ago, while leading a group of women in an exercise on “watering each other’s souls,” one participant shared a profound insight: “God has been restoring your soul so that you may pour it out to others.” I believe this is God’s ultimate desire for each of us – to invite Christ into every area of brokenness, allowing Him to restore us to beauty and wholeness, so we may, in turn, pour out His love to others.
From Desert to Garden
As we surrender to God’s restoration process, even the most barren landscapes can be transformed into lush gardens. It is then that we can truly reflect His love and light to those around us.
A Prayer of Gratitude
Dear God, thank you for restoring my soul. Show me today where I can help water another soul and be part of your restoration process. Amen.
