The Power of a Simple Question
As Jesus journeyed to Jericho, a crowd trailed behind Him, drawn to His teachings and miracles. Among them were two blind men, sitting by the roadside, who cried out for His mercy when they heard Him approach. Jesus, ever compassionate, stopped and asked them a poignant question: “What do you want me to do for you?”
A Heartfelt Response
Their answer was simple yet profound: “We want to see.” And with a touch of His hand, their eyes were opened, and they beheld the world anew.
A Personal Encounter
When I read this story, I felt Jesus posing that same question to me. In a moment of struggle, when faced with a problem that seemed insurmountable, I heard His gentle voice asking, “What do you want me to do for you?” I paused, reflected, and shared my heart’s desire with Him. And, in His infinite wisdom, He provided a solution.
A Miraculous Intervention
Dorothy, a friend, emailed me in distress, explaining that a vital travel document had gone missing just hours before her team’s departure for Bolivia. I remembered Jesus’ question and replied with a prayer: “Jesus, we want you to find the ticket.” Incredibly, just thirty minutes later, Dorothy wrote back to say the ticket had been recovered.
A Daily Invitation
Today, and every day, Jesus extends the same invitation to each of us: “What do you want me to do for you?” Will you take a moment to respond, to share your deepest desires and concerns with Him?
A Heart of Gratitude
I thank You, Jesus, for Your unwavering care and concern for our needs and wants. Thank You for asking us what You can do for us, and for providing solutions to our problems. Amen.
