Jesus Asks: What Do You Want Me to Do for You?

The Power of a Simple Question

As Jesus journeyed to Jericho, a crowd gathered around Him, drawn to His wisdom and compassion. Among them were two blind men, sitting by the roadside, who cried out for His mercy. Jesus, ever willing to listen, stopped and asked them a profound question: “What do you want me to do for you?” Their response was simple yet heartfelt: “We want to see.” And with a touch of His hand, their eyes were opened, and they beheld the world anew.

A Personal Encounter

As I reflected on this story, I felt Jesus asking me the same question. In the midst of my own struggles and challenges, I heard His gentle voice whispering, “What do you want me to do for you?” It was as if He was inviting me to surrender my fears and doubts, to trust in His power and wisdom.

A Timely Intervention

I recalled a recent experience where a friend, Dorothy, faced a crisis. Her ministry team was set to depart for Bolivia, but a crucial ticket had gone missing. In desperation, she reached out to me, and I knew exactly what to do. I prayed, echoing Jesus’ question: “What do you want me to do for you?” My response was straightforward: “Jesus, we want you to find the ticket.” And, in a remarkable turn of events, the ticket was discovered just thirty minutes later.

A Daily Invitation

Today, Jesus extends the same invitation to each of us. He asks, “What do you want me to do for you?” Will we respond with faith and trust, surrendering our deepest desires and fears to His care? Or will we hesitate, doubting His power and love?

A Heartfelt Response

As we reflect on Jesus’ question, let us respond with gratitude and humility. Thank you, Jesus, for caring about our needs and wants. Thank you for asking us what you can do for us. Thank you for solving our problems and bringing hope to our lives. Amen.
