Stay Spiritually Fit: Redirecting Your Thoughts to God’s Word

Staying Spiritually Fit in a Worldly Environment

As we navigate the ups and downs of life, it’s easy to lose sight of God’s presence in our lives. We get distracted by worldly concerns and forget to prioritize our spiritual well-being. But God wants us to be spiritually fit, and the key to achieving this lies in walking with Him and His Word.

The Importance of Spiritual Awareness

God is aware of every aspect of our being – physical, mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual. He wants us to be conscious of His presence in our lives, guiding us through the hills and valleys we face. However, we often get sidetracked by worldly things and lose focus on what God is telling us in each situation.

Redirecting Our Thoughts

I recently had an experience that drove this point home. While browsing a website, I clicked on an icon and was redirected to another site. It struck me that, spiritually speaking, we need to redirect our thoughts when the world clouds our vision. We need to refocus on what God is saying to us in every situation.

Finding Strength in God’s Word

When we feel alone, we can redirect ourselves to Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” When fear grips us, we can turn to Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” When we feel weak, Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” By redirecting our thoughts to God’s Word, we can find the strength and power to walk as He would walk.

Overcoming Temptation and Doubt

When we’re torn between following the world or following the Lord, Proverbs 3:5-6 guides us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we feel lost, Matthew 7:7 encourages us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” And when we’re tempted by the world, 1 Peter 5:8 warns us, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith…”

A Conscious Effort

Father God, Your Holy Word is truly the roadmap for life. Help us to make a conscious effort, in every situation, to redirect ourselves to Your Word and find the strength and power to walk as You would walk. Amen.
