Faithfulness in the Midst of Turmoil
When life takes a turn for the worse, it’s natural to question God’s role in our struggles. Like the writer of Lamentations, we may feel as though God is punishing us, waiting to pounce like a lion, or even turning against us. It’s easy to blame Him for our problems, seeking an easy scapegoat for our own mistakes.
The Power of Hope
But what if we shift our focus? Instead of ranting and shaking our fists at God, what if we choose to sit quietly, assured of His faithful renewal even amidst turmoil? The writer of Lamentations reminds us that “the Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord” (Lamentations 3:25-26).
Renewing Our Hope
In times of struggle, it’s essential to renew our hope in God’s goodness. We can ask Him to show us where we may have displeased Him, and to help us choose otherwise. Meanwhile, we can rest in His faithfulness and compassion, which is new every morning.
A Prayer of Surrender
God, I admit that it’s easy to think You cause my grief. If I have displeased You, show me where, and help me choose otherwise. In the meantime, God, help me to rest in Your faithfulness and compassion which is new every morning. Amen.
Sharing Our Faith
As we navigate life’s challenges, let’s share with others how God is faithful despite our struggles. By doing so, we can encourage one another to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord, trusting in His goodness and faithfulness.
May God Be Your Strength
Remember, God is good to those whose hope is in Him. May He be your strength amidst your challenges, and may His faithfulness and compassion be new every morning in your life.
