Finding True Happiness in God’s Presence
As I soared through the skies on a recent flight, I had the privilege of sharing a powerful message with a young businessman. A Buddhist, he posed thought-provoking questions: “Have you discovered lasting happiness?” and “When do you feel the deepest sense of joy?” With unwavering conviction, I shared my personal experience of finding true happiness in my time alone with God.
The Joy of Intimacy with God
Spending quality time with God is a transformative experience. As we sit or walk with Him, free from distractions, He ministers to our hearts, filling every cell of our being with His love. In return, our hearts overflow with love for Him. This sacred time is essential to prevent our faith from becoming shallow and legalistic.
A Ministry Built on Joy, Not Duty
I recall a conversation with a woman who had a remarkable ministry, yet seemed unfulfilled. Despite her tireless efforts, she was driven by duty rather than joy. She would rise in the middle of the night to intercede for her disciples, but neglected to nourish her own soul. Sadly, she eventually left her ministry. I believe that many people burn out because they fail to prioritize time with God, forgetting that they were created to glorify and enjoy Him forever.
Resting in God’s Love
Are you taking time to experience God’s love in your life? Do you believe that He delights in your fellowship and desires to give you rest? It’s essential to remember that our ministry flows from our relationship with God, not the other way around. When we prioritize time with Him, we’re filled with joy, and our ministry becomes a natural extension of that joy.
A Prayer for Intimacy
Oh God, show us how to enjoy You. Help us believe that You delight in our fellowship and desire to give us rest. Amen.
