Reframing Our Understanding of God’s Love
Growing up, our perception of God’s love is often shaped by our experiences with our earthly fathers. For Lily, this was a painful reality. Abused by her father as a teenager, she was even forbidden from calling him “Daddy” again. But as she turned to prayer and scripture, she began to uncover a vastly different picture of her heavenly Father.
Unconditional Love Revealed
The Bible tells us that God demonstrated His immense love for us by sending Christ to die for us, despite our sinful nature. This revelation transformed Lily’s heart, allowing her to see her father through God’s eyes of love. Rather than waiting for her father to change, she chose to focus on God’s love and forgiveness.
A Shift in Perspective
As Lily’s heart changed, so did her relationship with her father. She began to understand that her earthly father’s flaws did not define God’s character. Instead, she saw her heavenly Father as the ultimate perfect Father, full of love and compassion. This newfound understanding brought healing and restoration to their relationship.
Cultivating a Deeper Connection
What can we learn from God’s heart? We can discover a love that is unwavering and unconditional. As we continue to talk to God, He delights in hearing from us. May we seek to deepen our understanding of His love, reframing our perception of God’s goodness and grace.
