Overcome Fear, Share Your Faith: Unleashing Courage in Witnessing

Courage in Witnessing: Overcoming Fear with Faith

As believers, we’re called to share the Good News with others, but often, fear holds us back. According to our global surveys, most Christians struggle with witnessing due to fear. Even Timothy, a young disciple, faced this challenge. His mentor, Paul, reminded him that God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

The Promise of Power

Our Lord Jesus promised His disciples that they would receive power after the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they would be witnesses (Acts 1:8). This promise still holds true today. The Holy Spirit is the only One who can empower us to overcome fear and share our faith with others.

A Courageous Example

A remarkable story from Nagasaki, Japan, illustrates the kind of courage we should strive for. A young Christian boy, the only believer in his school of 150 students, dared to fold his hands and pray before eating his lunch every day. When accused of “doing magic” by his classmates, he bravely explained his actions to the school master. The master, also a secret Christian, was inspired by the boy’s courage and decided to live openly as a Christian from that day forward.

Embracing Courage

As we claim God’s promises and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome fear and share our faith with confidence. Psalm 27:14 reminds us to wait for the Lord, be brave, and courageous, knowing that He will help us. Today, let’s ask the Holy Spirit to enable us to be brave, stouthearted, and courageous as we go forth to tell others about the Lord Jesus Christ.
