Finding Refuge in Uncertainty: Trusting God’s Promises in Challenging Times

Finding Refuge in Uncertain Times

Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes it feels like the rug has been pulled out from under us. That’s exactly what happened when a valued team member unexpectedly handed in her resignation, leaving us with just two weeks to find a replacement. The thought of navigating this challenge felt overwhelming, and my initial reaction was to want to escape into a good book.

A Lesson in Faith

But then I remembered the wise words of Elisabeth Elliott: “When you’re facing a big problem, do the next thing.” So, I took a deep breath and got to work. I began by making a list of all the tasks that needed to be accomplished before my colleague’s departure. It was a daunting task, but I knew I couldn’t let fear and anxiety take over.

The Power of God’s Promises

In those moments of uncertainty, I turned to God’s promises for comfort and strength. Verses like Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms,” reminded me that I wasn’t alone. Jesus was with me, whispering words of encouragement and hope. He reminded me that He would never leave me or forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6), and that His strength would match my days (Deuteronomy 33:25).

A God of Provision

As I walked through those challenging two weeks, God proved Himself faithful once again. We were able to learn the necessary procedures, and less than a week later, we found our new assistant. It was a testament to God’s provision and care. He supplied all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

A Lesson for Us All

Have you faced a surprise problem lately? Remember that God is your refuge, and His promises are a source of comfort and strength. Don’t let fear and anxiety take over – listen to His whispers of hope and trust in His provision.

A Prayer of Gratitude

Father God, You are amazing – tender, caring, and faithful. Thank You for supplying all our needs. Amen.
