When Life Gets Tough, Trust in God’s Plan
A Season of Uncertainty
Life has a way of testing our priorities, doesn’t it? A few years ago, I found myself in a season of uncertainty, with multiple challenges converging at once. At home, the addition of two young children brought immense joy, but also consumed most of my time and energy, leaving little room for my relationship with my partner, Caroline. At work, the closure of a university campus and the influx of new students led to a series of reviews, leaving me feeling uncertain about my future.
The Weight of Uncertainty
As the pressure mounted, I began to feel the weight of depression. It became apparent to those around me, including Caroline, who suggested I seek help from a doctor. But I knew where to turn for true comfort – to God. In my darkest moments, I called out to Him, and He answered my prayers, reminding me of His faithfulness in the past.
A Reminder of God’s Faithfulness
I recalled a time when I was unemployed, with a small child to provide for, and only £10 left in the bank. Yet, God provided a job that met my needs perfectly, exactly when I needed it. This memory brought me comfort, reminding me that God has a plan for each of us, even when we can’t see it.
Surrendering Control
As I reflected on God’s faithfulness, I realized that I didn’t have to be in control all the time. In fact, trying to control everything was exhausting me. As Christians, we must do our part, but ultimately, we must submit our plans to God. When I surrendered my will to His, I found peace waiting for me.
The Promise of Inner Peace
Romans 8:38-39 reminds us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Not even death, life, angels, or rulers – nothing. When we trust in God’s plan, we can experience His inner peace, even in the midst of turmoil.
A Prayer for Guidance
Lord, forgive us when we stray. You are our guiding light, bringing clarity and peace to our lives. Direct our paths today, and instill in us Your presence through the Holy Spirit. May we know that You are always with us, willing to make a difference, no matter what life brings. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
