Nourished by the Source
As I gaze upon the beautiful wisteria frame in our backyard, I’m reminded of the importance of being connected to the source of life. The frame’s sturdy arms cradle hanging baskets, which burst with vibrant colors and life. But amidst the beauty, I notice a fuchsia with wilted leaves and limp blooms, a stark contrast to the rest. My husband, Bill, had accidentally broken the stem while tending to the baskets, and despite his efforts to revive it, the plant began to wither away.
The Power of Connection
This fragile stem serves as a poignant reminder of our own relationship with Jesus. We can attend church, surround ourselves with fellow believers, and even participate in spiritual practices, but if we’re not directly connected to Him, we’ll eventually wither away. Just as the stem needs to be attached to the plant to receive the necessary nutrients, we need to be plugged into Jesus to truly thrive.
The Beauty of Unity
As I examine the basket more closely, I’m struck by the numerous individual strands and blooms that come together to create a stunning whole. Similarly, when each member of the body of Christ draws deeply from their individual connection with Jesus, we can come together and flourish. We become a vibrant tapestry of faith, each thread strengthened by our collective connection to the Vine.
A Call to Action
So, I ask myself: Am I connected to the Vine, and am I plugged into a community of believers? I pray that God would nourish my soul, enabling me to be a thriving member of His body and faithfully serve others. Will you join me in this prayer?
Take the Next Step
Ask God to reveal one way you can serve someone today. As you take this step, remember that it’s through our individual connections with Jesus that we can come together and create a beautiful, thriving whole.
