**Surrendered to Serve**

**The Unconventional Path to True Greatness**

I used to think that becoming a Christian was the ultimate goal, the finish line to a lifelong journey of faith. But as I delved deeper into the teachings of Jesus, I realized that it was only the starting point. Receiving Christ as my Savior was merely the initial response to a lifelong journey of intimate discipleship.

The story of Jesus’ disciples in Matthew 20 is a powerful reminder of this truth. They were arguing over who would be the greatest in the Kingdom, exhibiting an entitled mentality that is all too familiar in today’s world. But Jesus turned their perspective upside down, teaching them that true greatness comes not from power, prestige, or prosperity, but from selfless, surrendered servitude.

Throughout the gospels, Jesus modeled and emphasized the importance of intentional servitude. He showed us that true greatness is not about being served, but about serving others. This radical approach to life is what sets apart the followers of Jesus from the rest of the world.

As I continue to immerse myself in Jesus’ words and character, I am reminded that salvation is not just about being saved from sin, but about being saved to serve. It’s about representing and reflecting God’s love to a broken and hurting world, not just within the comfort of our church communities, but in our daily lives.

**A Heart of Servitude**

I pray that God would create in me a servant’s heart, a heart that strives to emulate Jesus’ servant heart. I pray for opportunities to serve within my own community, to make a tangible difference in the lives of those around me.
