Embracing Faith in Life’s Uncertainties
When faced with uncertainty, it’s natural to rely on our own understanding. However, Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.” This biblical passage encourages us to surrender our doubts and fears to God, trusting that He will guide us through life’s challenges.
A Lesson in Trust
I recall a pivotal moment in my university days when I applied to become a resident assistant (RA) in my dormitory. Out of 27 applicants vying for two positions, I was determined to stand out. As I prepared for the interview, I felt overwhelmed by anxiety. In desperation, I turned to God, praying for direction and wisdom in my responses.
The Unexpected Turning Point
Upon entering the head resident’s apartment, I was greeted by a panel of seven interviewers. As I took my seat, I was presented with an unexpected choice: a chair or a footstool. Without hesitation, I chose the footstool. Unbeknownst to me at the time, this unconventional decision would set me apart from the other applicants. Later, I discovered that I was the only one who had opted for the footstool.
The Power of Surrender
While other factors contributed to the interview team’s decision, my unorthodox seating choice undoubtedly caught their attention. Reflecting on that experience, I believe it was a “God moment” – a subtle yet significant nudge from the divine. It reminded me that God is not only the God of grand, universe-shaping events but also the God of small, everyday moments.
Sitting at the Feet of God
As we navigate life’s uncertainties, we would do well to remember that God is always present, even in the smallest details. By humbly surrendering our concerns and desires to Him, we can tap into His infinite wisdom and guidance. So, take a cue from my footstool experience and trust God to direct your path, no matter how daunting the challenge may seem.
