Feasting on God’s Word: Unlocking Spiritual Growth Through Bible Reading

The Bible is not just a book, but a source of spiritual nourishment that can bring us closer to God. Reading the Bible is an excellent pursuit, but it’s not just about individual reading; it’s also about reading it with others in the church. The church is the body of Christ, and it needs the full “meal” of God’s Word to grow and thrive.

God works in our hearts through his Word, even when we can’t see an immediate outcome. Sometimes we will read our Bibles and come away with a clear application, while other times we will simply need to trust that God is working in our hearts.

It’s essential to remember that God’s work in our hearts is often a hidden, slow work, like a seed growing. We may not always see the immediate outcome, but that doesn’t mean God is not working. We need to trust that God is sowing his Word into our hearts and giving growth, even when we can’t pinpoint how he is doing this.

Many of us get discouraged when it feels like our quiet times aren’t doing anything. But these moments are not failures; they are opportunities for faith. We walk by faith, not by sight, and God has given us his Word as a marvelous gift of grace.

We should approach Bible reading with the understanding that it’s not just about individual reading, but also about reading it with others in the church. The church is the body of Christ, and it needs the full “meal” of God’s Word to grow and thrive.

In addition, we should be aware of common misconceptions about various topics, such as angels and demons, Calvinism, marriage, and depression. By understanding these myths and misconceptions, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the truth of God’s Word and its application in our lives.

Ultimately, our goal should be to feast on God’s Word, alongside his gathered people in the church. By doing so, we can experience the fullness of God’s work in our hearts and grow in our faith.
