Finding Comfort in the Right Seat
As I sat down to lunch with my grandson, I noticed something was off. His usual bright smile was replaced with tears and sadness. He struggled to put his feelings into words, but one thing was clear: he was hurting.
A Simple Request
Just as we were about to sit down, he asked if he could take my chair at the head of the table. It was a small request, but one that seemed to bring him comfort. I gladly obliged, and as he sat down, I could see the tension in his body begin to ease.
A Lesson in Comfort
This small moment taught me a valuable lesson about the power of comfort and reassurance. Sometimes, all we need is someone to offer us a place of rest and solace. This is exactly what Jesus offers us in Matthew 11:28-30.
A Gentle Invitation
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest,” Jesus says. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Rest for Our Souls
Being close to Christ is the ultimate place of comfort and reassurance. It’s where we can find rest from our burdens and solace in our struggles. Just like my grandson found comfort in sitting in my chair, we can find comfort in sitting at the feet of Jesus.
