Breaking Down Barriers
As we navigate life’s journey, we often encounter walls that seem insurmountable. These barriers can take many forms, from the emotional walls we build around ourselves to the physical walls that separate us from others. Yet, as Jesus reminds us, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26, NIV).
A Symbol of Division
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit the former Berlin Wall, a powerful symbol of division and separation. As I stood before the wall, now preserved for historical purposes, I was struck by the weight of its significance. This imposing structure, once deemed indestructible, had crumbled, a testament to the power of human perseverance and the hand of God.
Walls of the Heart
As I reflected on the Berlin Wall, I couldn’t help but think of the walls we carry within ourselves. The walls of unforgiveness, anger, and bitterness that separate us from God and others. These internal barriers prevent us from experiencing the fullness of relationships and the abundant life Jesus offers.
Hope in the Face of Adversity
Standing before the Berlin Wall, I felt a sense of hope wash over me. If this physical wall, once thought impenetrable, could come tumbling down, what walls in my own life could be broken? Jesus, the ultimate wall-breaker, gave His life to free us from the shackles of sin and separation. He desires to bring down the walls that hold us back, that we might walk in freedom and experience the fullness of the Kingdom of God.
Reflection and Prayer
As I reflect on the walls in my own life, I am reminded to ask: Which walls do I see as insurmountable? Lord, thank You for giving me hope. Please help me to break through the walls in my heart and the walls that oppose my relationships. Help me to walk in freedom and experience all You have for me today.
